How to handle Hangover after late night party

"Come on, it's party time! The festive season is here, and you probably have already been flooded with invitations to parties. All-night-long parties are usually accompanied by lots of drinking and eating. My usual advice to you is, "Moderation is the key," but in the midst of all the fun and booze, would you still remember what I say? I doubt it.

After a night of excessive drinking and binging, you will probably wake up to a throbbing headache, dry throat, queasy stomach and weakness all over the body - all symptoms of a hangover. Now all is not lost, because if you are prepared for a hangover, you can reduce the discomfort to a minimum. Here are some tricks and tips to help you prepare:

1. Are there any remedies to prevent hangover? No, you can't prevent hangovers 100%, though there are some good methods to reduce the absorption of alcohol by your body.
2. Before you start drinking, remember these tips:
* Never drink on an empty stomach - You will be knocked out even before you start enjoying the party. The best way is to keep eating before, after, and during drinking, even if the food is in small portions.
* Foods such as grapes, yogurt and fried foods help to line the stomach and slow the alcohol from entering the bloodstream. Eating also speeds up your metabolism of both food and alcohol, thereby removing toxins from your body faster.
* Ladies, do not act macho and compete with guys over who can drink more. From a biological viewpoint, men have been proven to withstand more alcohol than women, regardless of their height and weight. You can prove your ego elsewhere!
* Do not mix different types of drinks. Imagine you are mixing different poisons together within a drink that is poured into your body. These toxins could react badly with one another, creating a huge hangover later. Spare your one and only poor liver, who has to work doubly hard to flush the toxins out afterward.
* Once your wine intake exceeds two glasses, you should eat, never mind if it is already 2 a.m. Choose fried foods or high carbohydrate foods, which help to speed up your metabolism, thereby flushing the toxins out faster.
3. Herbal preventatives. Before a drink, if you can, try consuming either one or both of these two natural herbs:
* Chinese senega root. Mix 20 drops with ¼ cup of water and drink it before reaching for that wine. It serves to block the toxins in your wine from being absorbed into your bloodstream (as best as it can) and also helps to neutralize the toxins already present in your bloodstream.
* Silybum marianum. Drink some before your wine. It protects your liver from damage by toxins.
4. If you want to perk up from a hangover, do coffee and tea help? The harm has been done, and now you have to pay for it.
Coffee or tea cannot cure your hangover, but they can dull the throbbing pain for a while. However, I would strongly advise you to refrain from coffee and tea, as they will dehydrate your body and probably upset your stomach further, adding burdens to your liver and heart. But if you really have to, do remember to drink more water.

If you have been partying all night and are just ready to get into bed in the early morning hours, avoid coffee or tea. In addition to the reasons given above, it will also disrupt your sleep quality. But if you really must drink that cuppa joe out of sheer force of habit, then limit yourself to just one small cup and more water.
5. Some natural remedies do help in treating hangovers, so it's good to set some aside:
* Milk Thistle. Protects the liver and assists it in flushing out toxins.
* Ginger root (3 slices), vinegar (50 ml) and brown sugar (25 grams). Mix and boil into a ginger tea. It helps to relieve a queasy stomach and nausea.
* Feverfew. Used as a substitute for aspirin.
* Honey. Speeds up the breakdown of alcohol and helps discharge it from your body.
* Vitamin B6 (found in celery). Studies have shown this vitamin can reduce symptoms of a hangover.
6. What should you eat for breakfast after your hangovers?
* Lots of fruits to replenish lost energy and fluid. Ideal fruits include grapefruits, grapes, watermelon, persimmons and olives.
* Vegetables and bread are easily digestible, fill your hunger and replenish lost nutrients.
* Yogurt, rich in calcium, helps to lift your spirits.
* Bananas are strongly recommended, as they replenish your energy, potassium and magnesium. These minerals are important in relieving your throbbing headache and feelings of nausea.
7. Should you rest at home or exercise after sobering up? Light exercises such as strolling or brisk walking can help to detoxify your body as more oxygen is introduced into the brain and blood.

Best in class Travel Indian Railway

After giving low-cost air carriers a run for their money, the railways has now launched garib rath with fares 50% lower than AC-III tier fares. Railway minister Lalu Prasad has flagged off the first Garib Rath from Saharsa to Amritsar on Wednesday.

A ministry official said the 1,500 km journey would cost the passenger only Rs 695 as against Rs 1,164 —the fare for normal AC-III tier ticket. In chair cars, the cost would be Rs 595. He added that any extra service would be charged. Passengers will have to pay for bedrolls as well as food.

A serious flaw in the plan, however, is that the journey will be completed in 26 hours. This means that while the passenger will have to shell out less money, he will still lose out on time as compared to air travel.

A more probable passenger for Garib Rath trains will be the seven lakh passengers who travel by sleeper class every day, who are surprisingly second on the railways priority list.

The next train to be flagged off in the series will be the garib rath train from Delhi to

Mumbai and its ticket is tentatively priced at Rs 595 for sleeper class and Rs 495 for chair car.

How to Book an Indian Railway Ticket

This article gives overview of checking availability of trains for the station which are not important. This will cover almost all the stations of Indian railways.

Steps

  1. Log on to Indian railways official website "http://www.indianrail.gov.in/". or http://indian-railways.rediff.com (This seems to be much faster)
  2. Click on "Train/fare Accomodation" icon on the top row.
  3. Then the page showing "Trains/Fare/Reservation Availability Status" will open where you will be asked for Source & destination station name along with class & journey date.
  4. Give the required details and select "All Class" from dropdown menu of class and also the journey date.
  5. Click on "Get It" button, which will open "Trains Between A Source Destination Pair" page with options like source & destination station name. Then select the required station from the drop down list.
  6. again confirm the journey date and click on "Get It" button.
  7. Now you can see the list of trains which runs between the pair of station along with its train number, name, timings, days of operation and classes.
  8. Select the train and class an dclick on any of the option like, "Get Availability", "Get Fare", and "Get Schedule".
  9. You wil get the required details.

Tips

How to Polish Shoes

This is the ultimate way to shine shoes, and exactly how those in the armed services do it.

Steps

  1. Wipe off dust with a damp cloth. Better to run them under a tap of running water (warm is good).
  2. Use either a soft cotton cloth or a fine natural bristle brush, whose hairs are tightly packed to the handle, to put on the polish.
  3. Apply polish to shoe in a small circular movement (magic finger); wrap cloth around finger, or evenly cover shoe with polish using the brush. (The key is not to put too much polish on the shoe--but build the polish and shine up in thin layers--"Fat on Lean" process).
  4. Make sure that polish reaches the inside of the creases on the shoe (if they have any)
  5. Next let the polish "go off" on the shoe (preferably in the sun, or somewhere warm (heater) for 2 to 3 minutes. This will help the leather absorb the polish and also help the thin layer of polish melt (at a nano level) across the shoe.
  6. Using an atomizer, or pistol grip sprayer filled with water and adjusting the nozzle to a fine mist or spray, spray the entire shoe until it is covered with tiny droplets of water. Then polish the shoe dry with the same bristle brush, or another one if you prefer.
  7. Repeat process 2 through 6 until you reach the level of shine you want or need.
  8. Always keep the polish damp or it will dry out and not take (water works better than spit, but in seriously dried out situations use white spirit, or mineral oil).
  9. After you have finished (you'll know when you can see your face in them), wipe with a cotton ball soaked in cold water, or lightly buff with a cotton cloth.
  10. You can run over the shoe with a silicone cloth at the end. However this will scratch the shoe leather at a microscopic level (synthetic cloth against a natural product) although it will supercharge your shine, it does not last more than 10 minutes. Use only in absolute emergencies.
  11. When the shoes have dried up a little, using fine women's stockings evens the polish out and gives a further shine. You can add a little moisture by spraying or even by breathing on the shoe (there is quite a bit of moisture in human breath). If you don't believe the tip, try it.
  12. Leave shoes in a cold room or even the shed to dry. Best to place them in a shoe box with lid.

Tie Knots

In India business or even professional dose not have practice of wearing tie. here are the some simple tie knots which can help.

The Small knot

The Small knot, as it's name implies, is small and is suitable for ties made from a thick fabric (woven silk for example) and for close-fitting collars.
Be careful to remember to twist one part of the tie 180° (see diagram).

This knot is very easy to tie.

The Windsor knot: How to tie the Windsor Knot

The Windsor knot (or the Full Windsor), which owes its name to the Duke of Windsor, is a knot full of English class.
The full Windsor is one of the most popular knots. We can note that it is larger than the other popular knot the Four-in-hand.
When finished the Windsor knot has considerable volume and is best suited to wide-spaced collars (Italian collars for example) and to thin-fabric ties.

The finished windsor knot must be perfectly symmetrical.
Making this knot can be complicated.

The Cross knot

The Cross knot, used with thin fabric ties, is smart when finished but is complicated to achieve.
